If you’d asked me a few years ago what kind of holiday we were, I probably would’ve said a typical fly-and-flop, all inclusive kind of family.
But after trying Eurocamp… everything changed.
We’re a family of five, with three kids, and honestly, we’ve found something that just works for us in a way hotels never did.
Here’s exactly why we keep going back.
Why do we love Eurocamp holidays?
For me, it starts with the space.
I’m not a hotel room person anyway, but especially not with three kids. It just feels cramped, and everyone ends up on top of each other. With Eurocamp, you’ve got separate bedrooms, a lounge, outdoor space… it just feels so much more relaxed.
It’s not about luxury in the traditional sense, it’s about freedom.
The kids can play outside. You’re not all stuck in one room. You’ve got your own space to just be.
And the biggest thing for us was realising we’re actually quite an outdoorsy family. I don’t think we even knew that until we tried it.
We’ve done an all inclusive since, sat by a pool in boiling heat, and it just didn’t give us the same feeling at all.
Now we know. This is our kind of holiday.
What is the accommodation like?
We’ve tried a few different types now, from really basic to premium, and honestly, both have their place.
The first time we went, we did a really budget-friendly one. It was very basic, but still had three bedrooms, a lounge and a little kitchen. It was clean, comfortable and more than enough space for us.
We even had a spare bedroom just to chuck everything in, which with kids is a bonus in itself.
But as we’ve gone on, we’ve definitely leaned towards the premium options.
You still get the same layout, but with some really nice upgrades. Two bathrooms, which is an absolute godsend with a family. A bigger living space. And the main thing for us, the decking.
That’s where we spend most of our time.
In France, we had one overlooking a lake. The boys could fish with their dad, and I could sit on the decking and watch them. That, for me, is what it’s all about.
What are the facilities like on site?
This is where Eurocamp really comes into its own for families.
There is so much to do.
Most sites we’ve been to have:
- Indoor and outdoor pools
- Lakes you can swim in
- Water slides and inflatables
- Play areas and green spaces
- Kids clubs and discos
- Restaurants and bars
What my kids love most is the freedom. They can ride bikes around, explore the site, go to the park, and just be kids.
Some of the parks are next level as well. We’ve seen ones with theme parks attached, safari parks, all sorts. It really does vary, but there’s always loads to keep them busy.
What did we do at La Croix du Vieux Pont?
La Croix du Vieux Pont in France was probably one of our favourite trips.
We did a day trip to Paris from here, which was about an hour to an hour and a half away. I was nervous about it, especially getting the metro with the kids, but it was absolutely worth it.
We came out of the station, turned a corner, and there was the Eiffel Tower in the distance. The kids were just in complete awe.
We stayed into the evening so we could see it sparkle, and it was just one of those moments you don’t forget.
Closer to the park, we also visited some beautiful little villages that felt like something out of a fairytale, with little bakeries, cobbled streets and stunning views.
And back at the campsite itself, having that lake right by our accommodation made it extra special. It felt peaceful, scenic and completely different to anything we’d done before.
What did we do at TerSpegelt?
TerSpegelt in the Netherlands had a completely different feel, but we loved it just as much.
One of the best things we did was hire bikes. We hadn’t planned it at all, we just saw everyone else doing it and thought we’d give it a go.
We ended up cycling into a nearby village for ice cream, not really knowing where we were going, and it was honestly my favourite part of the whole trip.
We also did a day trip into Belgium where we visited a chocolate museum and one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to. The kids absolutely loved it.
And we visited Efteling theme park, which is like a fairytale version of Disneyland. It’s a bit quieter, a bit different, but still amazing for the kids.
Even on site, there was loads going on, from water activities to play areas, and the kids loved having the freedom to just get on their bikes and explore.
Final thoughts
Eurocamp has completely changed the way we holiday.
It’s not about luxury hotels or ticking boxes. It’s about space, freedom and actually enjoying time together as a family.
We’ve only done a couple of locations so far, but now I just want to try as many as possible.
And I genuinely can’t see us going back to doing holidays the way we used to.
