I am still smiling as I write this.
Last week, at the Weymouth Business Awards held at Oliveto Restaurant, I was named Independent Business of the Year 2026. Even seeing those words written down feels surreal.
The Weymouth Business Awards celebrate brilliance, innovation and community spirit, recognising local businesses that make a genuine impact on our town. To be recognised amongst so many hardworking and inspiring independent businesses was something I am incredibly proud of.
The judges praised Torster Travel for “excellent customer service, industry knowledge and enthusiasm for the business and its clients”. Hearing that feedback meant so much, because those are the values I build my business on every single day.
When I was announced as the winner, I said:
“This award is from my clients and for my clients, and I’m so happy I can offer them an incredible service that they really value. Travel has always been a passion from a young age, so being able to give back and share my experiences and knowledge to help others travel the world has been amazing.”
And I truly meant every word.
Before starting my travel business, I had the opportunity to travel the world competing at the highest level of sport. Those experiences shaped my understanding of different destinations and cultures in a way that books and brochures simply cannot. Now, I use that personal insight to help my clients explore places they may never have considered and to make sure every recommendation is based on real knowledge.
For me, this award is not just about running a business. It reflects the relationships I have built with my clients, the trust they place in me, and the care that goes into every holiday I help plan.
The messages I have received since the awards evening have been overwhelming. One client wrote:

That kind of feedback is everything.
Winning Independent Business of the Year feels like a huge milestone, but more than anything, it motivates me to continue raising the bar. I am so grateful to my clients, fellow business owners and the local community for their continued support.
