Delhi – A Dazzling Welcome to India
Our Indian adventure began the moment we stepped off our direct Virgin Atlantic flight into the vibrant buzz of Delhi. First stop? The fabulous Leela Ambience hotel. It was pure luxury from the get-go, with grand interiors, traditional Indian touches, and service that made us feel like royalty. The perfect base to ease into the rhythm of this exciting country.
We dove straight into Delhi’s rich heritage with visits to the awe-inspiring Humayun’s Tomb and the grand Jama Masjid which were both soaked in Mughal splendour. But it was the peaceful Gurudwara Bangla Sahib that truly touched us, especially during a heartwarming visit to the community kitchen where meals are shared with all.
Then came the chaos we’d been waiting for, a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk. Think spices in the air, saris in every shade, and the hum of local life at every turn. A full sensory experience and a brilliant way to wrap up our first stop in India.
Jaipur – Regal Sights and Real Connections
Next stop: the Pink City of Jaipur, and what a feast for the eyes it was. Our stay at the elegant ITC Rajputana made us feel like Rajasthani royalty, with its palatial architecture and warm hospitality.
We explored the magnificent Amber Fort by jeep (so much more fun than walking!) and admired the glittering Sheesh Mahal. Then it was on to the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, where Jaipur’s royal past and scientific genius came to life in the most beautiful setting.
Lunch was a treat at the lovely Shahpura House, complete with live Rajasthani folk dancing. But the real highlight of the day was a cosy evening spent cooking and dining with a local family. Chatting over chapatis and sharing stories, we truly felt the heart of Jaipur.

Ranthambhore – Safari Dreams and Sunset Magic
We swapped palaces for the promise of the wild as we travelled to Ranthambore and it didn’t disappoint. After a delicious lunch at the charming Ranthambhore Kothi, we settled into the gorgeous Ranthambhore Bagh Palace, nestled on the edge of the jungle.
An early start the next morning saw us bundled into our safari jeep for a sunrise adventure in Ranthambore National Park. No tiger sightings this time, but the landscape was stunning and the wildlife including deer, langurs and crocodiles kept us on our toes.
Our final stop was Vanaashrya in Sariska, and what a magical way to end the journey. A camel cart ride through a sleepy village set the scene, followed by an evening of delicious local dishes, a live cooking demo, and traditional dancing under the stars.
Final Chapter: From Ancient Wonders to Timeless Memories
Our final leg took us from Sariska’s wild beauty to the mesmerising Abhaneri Step Well, a striking example of ancient engineering with its intricate, symmetrical design. A lavish lunch at the opulent Jaypee Palace followed, before we reached Agra and checked into the ITC Mughal, where Mughal-inspired luxury set the tone. The next morning, we visited the Taj Mahal at sunrise – a truly unforgettable sight bathed in golden light – then explored the impressive Agra Fort. After a peaceful lunch at the Trident Agra, we journeyed to Delhi for a final night at the Sheraton New Delhi, complete with a flavoursome South Indian feast at Dakshin. With our hearts full and cameras packed with memories, we headed to the airport, closing the chapter on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
