We were recently invited to spend five nights onboard Regent Seven Seas Grandeur, sailing from Stockholm to Copenhagen.
We flew direct from Manchester with SAS. It is certainly worth checking the price difference for Business Class to enjoy benefits such as fast track and lounge access, as well as a meal and drinks service onboard.
Our Pre-Cruise Stay in Stockholm
We enjoyed a one-night pre-cruise stay in Stockholm at Hotel C Stockholm. We chose to stay here because of its proximity to the Arlanda Express. The journey from the airport is direct and takes just 18 minutes, with the cost approximately £26pp.
You can purchase your tickets before travel or at the airport. We found the service very easy to use, and the hotel is literally a one-minute walk from the station.
Hotel C has plenty of bars and restaurants close by and also has an Ice Bar. It is a pleasant 20-minute walk to Stockholm’s Old Town.
We only had a couple of hours to look around the city, but we were both pleasantly surprised. It feels very safe, has plenty to offer and would make a great weekend city break.
The journey the following day to Frihamnen Cruise Terminal took us around 20 minutes by taxi.
Our First Impressions of Seven Seas Grandeur
Our first glimpse of Regent Seven Seas Grandeur was impressive. At 55,500 tonnes and with a maximum capacity of just 746 guests, we knew we were in for a fantastic time.
We were quickly escorted onboard and offered a glass of champagne in the main atrium. It features a sweeping two-deck open staircase with an intricate crystal chandelier hanging above, two glass elevators, premium marble floors and rich wood accents. It is stunning.
We were then escorted to Compass Rose for check-in, which was seamless.
The décor of Compass Rose is designed to resemble an enchanted forest. The entrance features a cascading architectural screen that mimics a waterfall, while inside, glittering backlit white structural pillars curve upwards like trees. They are wrapped in thousands of climbing crystal leaves, giving the illusion of dining beneath a twinkling canopy.
Mirror-lined windows make the room feel incredibly spacious, complemented by custom marble floors laid out in an abstract leaf pattern.
Then there are the table settings. Versace charger plates in deep blue and gold, white linen tablecloths, pristine crystal glassware and silver-plated cutlery all add to the sense of occasion. It is a beautiful restaurant and certainly delivered the WOW moment for our first glimpse of Seven Seas Grandeur.
Our suite would be available at 2:30pm, so once we had checked in and received our suite cards, we set off to explore the ship.
We enjoyed a spot of lunch at La Veranda, the ship’s indoor and outdoor buffet restaurant. You can choose to self-serve or order items from the menu. The lobster nachos are delicious!

Our Veranda Suite on Seven Seas Grandeur
Our suite was located on Deck 7, suite 7623, an H Grade Veranda Suite.
This is the entry-level suite and offers a total of 307 square feet of space. The marble bathroom features a large glass-enclosed walk-in shower and a selection of premium L’Occitane Mer & Mistral toiletries.
There is a living area with a plush sofa, a custom-designed vanity desk with a mirror and an adjustable table that is perfect for in-suite dining.
The minibar is filled with soft drinks of your choice and replenished daily, and you can also order from a selection of wines and spirits. A welcome bottle of champagne was waiting for us, chilled on ice.
Now, let’s talk about the bed.
The Elite Slumber king-sized bed is fitted with luxurious, high-thread-count European linen. The bed certainly does hug you and absolutely lives up to the description. It is luxurious and so very comfortable.
Complimentary laundry facilities and Wi-Fi are also included.
The spacious balcony has two reclining chairs with padded cushions, and with 24-hour room service available, we knew our home for the next five nights was going to be extremely inviting.
Dining on Seven Seas Grandeur
We experienced all of the complimentary speciality restaurants onboard, and the food in every restaurant was divine.
Each restaurant offered a red, white and rosé wine selected by the knowledgeable sommelier, and the service throughout was impeccable.
Dinner reservations are required for the following restaurants:
Prime 7: A classic, upscale American steakhouse serving dry-aged New York strips, filet mignon and whole Maine lobsters.
Pacific Rim: A dramatic pan-Asian speciality restaurant featuring a striking architectural sculpture at its entrance, serving dim sum, seafood and fusion mains.
Chartreuse: A chic restaurant celebrating modern French gastronomy, with a menu inspired by a Parisian bistro.
There is open seating at the following restaurants:
Sette Mari at La Veranda: In the evening, the daytime buffet transforms into an intimate, table-service Italian trattoria serving authentic pastas, antipasti and regional wines.
Compass Rose: The magnificent main dining room designed like an enchanted forest, serving customisable steaks, seafood and rotating daily specials.
If you have been following our journey onboard Seven Seas Grandeur on our Facebook page, you will have seen some of the delicious food served in all of the restaurants above: facebook.com/Ascrofttravel.
If you do not have Facebook, don’t worry. You can also view our posts here: https://ascrofttravel.co.uk.
It is definitely worth taking a look, as we have described each restaurant in more detail, with pictures and descriptions of the food.

Exploring Seven Seas Grandeur
The ship itself has just 13 passenger decks and, being a smaller ship, it does not take long to find your way around.
Seven Seas Grandeur also features a multi-million-dollar art collection comprising 1,600 pieces.
Our favourite, The Journey in Jewels, is the first Fabergé egg at sea and is absolutely stunning.
Three original Picasso artworks can be found in Prime 7, while a huge 40-foot-tall hand-woven tapestry titled The Enchanted Tree sits in the main foyer behind the glass elevator.
Each deck also has a window that gives you the opportunity to take a closer look at the tapestry.

Entertainment on Seven Seas Grandeur
The focal point for nightly entertainment is the Constellation Theater, with one show each evening at 9:30pm.
The entertainment leans towards sophisticated, high-calibre and intimate experiences rather than the mega-resort attractions found on larger ships, with each performance lasting around 45 minutes.
We really enjoyed the shows onboard.
Once they had finished, you could usually find a duo, band or pianist entertaining guests in either the Observation Lounge, Meridian Lounge or Grandeur Lounge.
And of course, there is also the casino if you fancy finishing off your evening there.
Regent Seven Seas Grandeur Excursions
The excursions are complimentary, and there is often a choice of 14 or more to choose from.
Pre-booking of excursions is available from 240 to 180 days before your sailing, depending on your suite category.
We were docked overnight in Warnemünde, Germany, and on this occasion chose to do our own thing.
It is worth noting that the ship docks very close to the port, and the seaside town of Warnemünde was only a short walk away.
When we disembarked in Copenhagen, our berth was the closest to the city and approximately a 10-minute walk from the Little Mermaid statue.
This is one of the real beauties of small-ship cruising.
The Pool Deck on Seven Seas Grandeur
Because the ship carries a maximum of 746 guests, you are never fighting for a lounger.
Seven Seas Grandeur offers a heated freshwater swimming pool, two oversized hot tubs, thickly padded loungers and double-bed daybeds.
The attentive pool stewards circulate constantly, setting up your plush towels, adjusting umbrellas and bringing complimentary cocktails, frozen drinks or fresh juices from the Pool Bar.
Just perfection.
Serene Spa & Wellness on Seven Seas Grandeur
We enjoyed a couple of hours in the spa while the ship was docked in Warnemünde.
All guests have completely free, unlimited access to the luxurious indoor Hydrothermal Suite.
The Spa Infinity Pool at the back of the ship was the perfect place to relax and spend a couple of hours simply watching the world go by.
We also popped into the sauna and steam room and even braved the Cold Room!
There is also a gym, and a fitness instructor hosts complimentary daily classes.

Sports and Activities on Seven Seas Grandeur
Up on Deck 12, you will find a nine-hole putting green, driving nets, a bocce court, shuffleboard and paddle and pickleball courts.
If you prefer a board game, cards or even fancy completing a jigsaw, you will find plenty to keep you entertained in the card room.
Alternatively, you can simply relax and read a book in the library.
There is also a culinary school onboard, The Culinary Arts Kitchen. There is a fee payable, typically around $89, and it always looked extremely popular.
The recipes they appeared to be cooking included crêpes and meatballs, and they smelt delicious.
