When I found out I’d been chosen as a Travel Weekly Cover Star for 2026, I honestly couldn’t believe it. To say I was shocked is an understatement but I was also incredibly proud. After everything I’ve been through, especially losing a lot of my confidence during chemotherapy, this experience felt like such a special moment. Travelling on my own was a big step for me, but it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

For those who might not know, Cover Stars is Travel Weekly’s flagship competition, run in partnership with Jet2holidays. Each year, 12 travel agents are selected to feature on the front covers of the UK’s number-one travel trade magazine throughout the following year. The winners are treated to a VIP Indulgent Escapes trip, this time to the beautiful island of Madeira – complete with professional photoshoots, luxurious experiences and the chance to make unforgettable memories with fellow agents.

Exploring Madeira

From the moment we arrived, it felt like a dream. We stayed at the five-star Savoy Palace in Funchal, and everything from the service to the views was incredible. Jet2holidays truly made sure every detail was taken care of, from private transfers to priority lane passes and a perfectly planned itinerary.

Our first adventure was a walking tour of Funchal, where we explored the local market and soaked up the city’s vibrant atmosphere. We took the Cable Car to Monte and visited the stunning Monte Palace gardens. Sadly, we couldn’t experience the famous Toboggan ride because the roads were too slippery after the rain but that just gives me an excuse to return!
One of my favourite moments was our sunset boat tour. I’ve always loved sunrises and sunsets, and watching the colours dance over the water was pure magic.

Photo Shoot and Sightseeing

We also travelled to the Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint for some breathtaking coastal views, before heading to Santana to see the island’s famous typical houses. It was here that I had my photoshoot for the Travel Weekly cover, such a surreal and proud moment!

Adventure and Indulgence

Day four took things up a notch with a Jeep tour that was nothing short of amazing. We visited Cabo Girão, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe, and the mystical Fanal Forest. Lunch and wine tasting at Vinhas do Tico was another highlight, followed by a stop at Seixal Beach and a fun Poncha-making class at the Museu do Mel.

Food, Friends and Memories

Madeira is a paradise for food lovers, and we were lucky to dine at some incredible restaurants, including Vila Da Carne, Gruta, Nini Design Centre, Vinhas do Tico, and my personal favourite, Il Vivaldi. Each meal was an experience in itself, with delicious food and stunning surroundings.
But what really made this trip unforgettable was the people. I shared it with the loveliest group of fellow Cover Stars, and the laughter, support and friendships we built will stay with me forever.

A Journey to Remember

Being a Travel Weekly Cover Star 2026 with Jet2holidays amongst these other amazing agents, has been a life-changing experience. It reminded me how strong I am and how much I love this industry. I’ll never forget the pride I felt standing there in Santana during my photoshoot, representing both myself and the amazing world of travel.
I’ll always be grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to see my cover when it’s published in 2026!
